Ok, I don't know about you all but I'm tired of live journal constantly going down. It seems that it's always the same problem every time they crash! It's getting rather annoying. I think they should go to a much stronger server, cause it's odvious that there's millions of some people and the server can't hold them all. Why don't they just get a bigger server and maybe things will improve? I'm telling ya, if they don't do something about it I will leave!

Actually I like LJ. I've never had a problem with it at all. Maybe the servers down for maintance reasons...who knows? The thing I love about LJ is, you can let certain people see it, and make groups for your friends list etc. The only gripe I had with it is, I had to wait 1 year to get on to LJ bc no one I knew had a code. And then someone was offering like tons of codes bc he/she was one of those early adaptors or a paid user and didn't know what to do with them.....Well I was able to hook up all of my friends who wanted LJs and we find out 2 weeks later that the code system was being taken down..... LJ was no longer exclusive. Granted I was able to make update journals for both of my websites, my own personal journal and 3 communities, I still think LJ should go back to the code system.
Leave then, if you can't stand it so much..., then leave.
They've worked damn hard, to keep that site free, but sheesh, if your going to bitch, about how unstable you think there servers are, then don't use LJ.
yeah, I gotta agree. The server craches aren't all that many. And I can tolerate the maintance stuff. But why don't you go for a LJ client if you can't stand the LJ Server? All you do is download, install and use.. All I do is post and if there's a error with the server for maintance, it'll let me know. I'll save it in a text file then when the server is back up and running I post. Long entry yes, but I used LJ Cuts to divide each section up. FOD is no better, their servers were always shitty and I never liked FOD and I left... So if you feel the same about LJ leave. They do a excellent job keeping the place free with all the new stuff.
Tend to agree; I love love love LJ and the fact that all the web blogging features are free! I can't speak more highly of their service. When I can (as in my current situation) I will purchase my account to thank them, and also in the aim of wanting to help contribute to purchase of a server or bandwidth or anything. I'd love to do more for them! Yes, i have noticed more lately that LJ are having problems but .. I know they're working around the clock to provide a solid, free service.
Yeah, I either download a client or use notepad (I am using notepad now as oppose to having an LJ client. but remember you can always backdate entries - a very useful feature!
Hope you stay with LJ! They are seriously the best site/service I've ever encountered! :)
What's the difference between using a cliant as opposed to using the server?
At least they do re imberse paid users when they are down for long periods of time. What client works well with jaws does anyone know?
Troy
I gotta say I have only had one very short server problem with LJ the whole time I have been using it. It is very good.
actually I use to use semagic and found it just terrible with jaws. then I started using another one - simply called "livejournal" (I believe) but if I am wrong or you can't find it, I still have the setup file on my other hard drive, so I'd be happy to send it to you. Just let me know!
hmmmm what features does the livejournal client (the one you have on your other computer.) have? Curious!
U know, since we're on the topic of live journals, I figured I'd pose a question to all of you people using them. I have posted this in my very brief journal, wich I don't bother with anymore, but that is beside the point. I want to know what motivates people to keep such journals? I mean, is it so that u can brag about how great your life is to feel good about yourself, or is it so that u can tell the world about how crappy your life is and make them feel sorry for u? Or is it just because u r bored and have nothing better to do? Don't take this as a personal attack or anything, because it is not ment to be one, just a curiosity.
I have to say that I haven't had any live journal problems. They use many different servers; so some may go down while others are still up and running. I use live journal to chronicle my thoughts on a variety of topics. I love to write...poetry, short stories, songs and such and like the opinions of others on what I write. It's a nice place to put them and allow my friends, some of which I don't see much, to comment. Btw there's another journal site I like called open diary at www.opendiary.com. Try it if you like.
Is there a any possible way for me to switch to a new cluster if I request to do so to brad?

Lol I don't know about your question Troy sorry, but I wanted to put my nickel's worth in. I have a LJ, I don't update it much on account of I'm obsessed with online journals, and dont' get around to updating them all lol! But I gotta say LJ is right up there with the best of them, it's so simple, and yet if you want fancy stuff, it's there to use. And best of all it's free. Claps to LJ, and all the other free journaling services out there, it rocks! Oh and about KC's question, I am motivated to post because I love going back and reading my journals later, and some of my friends read them to see what's new with me if we don't get to chat every day. An easy way to update is to set up a mail to journal address, I think you can do that on LJ, and just E-Mail your journal like it's a friend. That works great for me on Blogger.
